Summary:
TISTA is seeking a Senior System Administrator to join Electronic Research Administration (eRA) team supporting National Institute of Health (NIH) in Rockville MD. eRA is the enterprise grants management system for NIH and supports over 200,000 users world-wide on a 24x7x365 basis. The candidate will be responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of eRA systems hardware, software and related infrastructure.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide system administration, engineering, and management support services for the systems and infrastructure supporting the eRA.
  • Implement, maintain, and patch virtual servers in the VMWare virtualization environment.
  • Maintain VSphere ESXi virtual hosts up to date with the current approved operation systems
  • Perform vulnerability scanning, analyze scan data and conduct vulnerability remediation and patching
  • Follow proactive monitoring/maintenance policies and procedures to maintain availability of mission critical systems using tools such as SiteScope
  • Hands-on experience of enterprise system patching using Bigfix or other tools
  • Create and maintain detailed documentation of operations and procedures

Preferred Skills:

  • 5+ years of System Administration experience
  • Advanced Unix/Linux skills (i.e. file systems, performance)
  • Experience with Sun Solaris is desirable.
  • Experience with Windows servers required
  • Knowledge of Grants Management and Health Care related support activities, processes, and regulations is preferred
  • Apache Tomcat certification is preferred
  • Experience in Federal Grants Management is preferred
  • Experience working within the National Institutes of Health is preferred

Education/Certification Requirements:

  • Bachelor Degree or equivalent work experience
  • VMWare Certified Professional or equivalent experience
  • Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) preferred
  • VMware Certified Professional (VCP) preferred
